How much does Lasik surgery cost? Is it worth it? What sides effects does it have?
- I wore gl es since age 9 and had bad astigmatism. Got Lasik about 5 years ago and do not regret it one bit. It was about $2000 then. Check around a few different centers - they usually have a free consult - until you find a center you are comfortable with. For me, it was not necessarily the cheapest center but some of them turned me off with a "hard sell" approach. Each center should be able to tell you the potential side effects. I had no problems myself. I am happy to recommend Clear Choice in Northern Ohio
- There are barely any side effects, the technology used is so advanced that it only takes you about 25 minutes to completely recover, in other words you will be able to see perfectly after just 25 minutes. The procedure is completely painless, although you do get a whiff of burning Cornea. As for the price that really depends where you live since different clinics and centers have different prices. Its completely worth it. Its safe and doesn't take that long
- Do you have problems with dry eyes? Dry eyes can be a permanant side effect; your eye may have trouble producing enough tears to keep it moist. I know someone who had the surgery and had trouble with severe dry eyes afterwards. On the contrary, I have heard of many people getting the surgery done and loving it! I think the best would be to talk to your optometrist too see if its right for you! :
- well went to have surgery done in may after having some tests done doctor said it would be over in a few mins. The nurse put drops into my eyes and they were blurred and without gl es i could not see very well and the nurse brought me a paper to sign saying it was the normal thing to do. and when i insisted on reading it, what did i see, the doctor said he would take NO RESPONSIBILITY if blindness occurs so i got up and left. he is a very well known Doctor in 2 countries and has his own clinic. Please beware of the side affects i have nothing to gain sharing this with you
- not looking for a best answer, just thought i'd add to the answer above mine was $1500 an eye, in CA, also there was a cheaper one for I believe $800 an eye, but it did not use a laser. It also included a followup appointment with an optometrist to get reading gl es. Just fyi, it fixes your distance vision, but you still will need gl es to read things close up. that's how it was for me, may be different for you depending on how your cornea has curved
- Hey Julie! The cost of Lasik varies based on several factors such as the type of procedure, your doctor, etc. New technologies allowing for ultra - precise and personalized treatment?including Custom WaveFront technology, and All - Laser or IntraLase® LASIK, often increase the price. Your decision should incorporate financing options, the reputation of the LASIK practice, the LASIK technology used, and?perhaps most importantly?the surgeon?s skill and experience. Doing your research is critical when you are dealing with your vision and the long - term health of your eyes. As far as side effects, I can appreciate and understand your concerns. Like any surgical procedure, possible side effects while minimal may vary depending on type of procedure, equipment used, and the amount of correction required. The most common side effects, such as surface irritation and dry eyes, typically resolve themselves in the days and weeks following the procedure. As always, it is best that you visit your nearest LASIK center to speak with a doctor who can provide you with information specific to you and your eyes; everyone?s eyes are different. Also, you may find the LasikPlus Facebook page helpful in answering any further questions you may have by reading over the experiences of people who have had Lasik and even speaking with actual doctors.
